Everything to know before you set off

We provide the kayak, the paddle, the buoyancy aid and a dry bag. You bring the good mood, and a few things that make all the difference.

What to bring

  • Swimwear and a T-shirt

A light T-shirt protects better from the sun than sunscreen, especially on your shoulders.

  • Hat and sunglasses

With a strap: the sea loves sunglasses.

  • A litre of water

Per person, and two for the big day out.

  • Mineral sunscreen

Without chemical filters, to protect the seagrass meadows.

  • A protected phone

In the dry bag we provide, or in a pouch of your own.

  • Water shoes

Recommended: the calanque beaches are pebbly.

Frequently asked questions

Before you go

Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes, you need to be able to swim 25 metres, even with a buoyancy aid. For snorkelling, you should be comfortable in the water.

Do I need to be fit?

Not for the two-to-three-hour trips: our double kayaks are stable and the pace is relaxed. The big day out requires a good level of fitness.

From what age?

From age 8 for the three calanques, in a double kayak with an adult; from 10 for snorkelling and sunset; from 14 for the big day out.

What if the mistral blows?

Above 25 km/h of wind, we do not go out. We let you know the evening before and offer another slot or a full refund.

Can we land in the calanques?

Yes, on the beaches allowed by the Calanques National Park, for a swim or a picnic. We follow its rules to the letter.

Calanques National Park

A protected area we cross on tiptoe

The calanques have been part of a national park since 2012. We paddle there in small numbers, leave nothing behind and stop only on the beaches where landing is allowed.

Our guides show you the seagrass meadows, the gulls’ nests and the fossils in the rock, and explain why we take neither pebbles nor shells.
